Sung syllables pronounces the lyrics printed under each part. A part without lyrics is sung on “ah”. Organ over piano plays every voice on one rank of recorded pipes, which hold a note for as long as it is written to last, and leaves the score’s own piano staff to the piano. Plucked strings over piano plays everything on the piano and lifts only your own line out of it. One instrument per part gives every line a different instrument instead, which is fuller and harder work to listen to.

Are you wearing headphones?

A held note sounds under these levels so home stays in your ear. Through headphones it can stay there while you sing. Through a speaker it reaches the microphone and drowns out the notes that are not part of it — mi above all — so it has to let go before you start.

Either way the drone plays before you sing. You can change this later in settings.
